The RP of Astera Vesperius explores the corrupt political world of Ul'dah, where the lines between legitimate business and organized crime is hazy and anything goes when you have enough money. Through the lens of a crime family headed by one a monetarist lord, we seek to expand our influence within this system of haves and have-nots with the ultimate goal of undermining the system entirely.Despite AV's principal enterprise as a high-end jewelry boutique, Lord Drakkaern Vesperius maintains a reputation as the "Token Philanthropist" among the monetarist faction, contributing considerable charitable support for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the commonfolk such as affordable housing and improvements to water quality in the desert region.Behind the curtain, his alter ego "The King in Silver" runs a loyal and determined crime family that uses force and sabotage to cement its authority among the multitude of factions vying for power in the city.

Ul'dahn Noir

The FC story is a dynamic web of political intrigue based on Ul'dahn noir, where the scales of power tip back and forth as we let the consequences of our actions play out.As the hired muscle, you might end up breaking the wrong person's arm. As an artisan, you may end up selling a product into someone else's territory. You may try to stay on the clean side of the organization, keep to the shadows and out of the public eye, or dip your toes into both worlds for the complete experience.Our IC structure is that of the sprawling empire of a Monetarist Lord & Criminal Kingpin. We pride ourselves on a culture of "Yes, and", and are excited to help you craft your own ambitious stories in the underworld. We offer multiple paths to participation both initially and ongoing. There will be room for artisans, skilled workers, and other non-combative concepts.

EXPectations

  • Guidance and Support:    When joining the family, you will likely be paired with an officer as a sort of RP buddy/mentor role to help connect you with the overarching narrative. Each officer runs a different department that caters to different RP content and styles. ICly, they might be your superior, but OOCly they are here to make you feel welcome and make sure your independent actions are incorporated into the group canon.

  • Against All Odds:    The Family expects absolute (IC) loyalty from those who become blooded members and who will follow a chain of command. Are they desperate or in danger, needing the protection of a powerful faction? Or are they true believers in the Cause?

  • FC on Balmung:    Membership in the ingame FC is encouraged, but not required. We have a simple dress code that is flexible enough to accommodate some personal interpretation and funded by us. For those who do pursue membership, FC rooms that are intended to be designed as IC additions to our Astera Oasis hotel will have the rooms initial cost paid by the FC.

  • Content Rating: AV is a 21+ community that focuses on roleplay about an organized crime family that explores dark and mature themes. Please be at least 21 years of age.

  • We have no tolerance for: bigotry (homophobia, transphobia, racism, etc), lalafell/underage lewding of ANY kind, harassment, drama, etc.

  • Please refrain from discussing hot topics. Discussion of real life politics, religion, current events, community drama, or excessive venting is not appropriate for this space. If the officers ask you to stop a conversation, please respect that decision and move on.

  • Our community is SFW. No graphic or explicit depictions or descriptions of sexuality or violence should be posted or linked. Mare should also be SFW in our venue and events.

  • Separate IC and OOC. It is also important to maintain the distinction between IC and OOC actions, which means not take actions or moral differences between characters personally.

For as long as Lord Vesperius has made his climb through the social strata of Ul'dah, an ever-present shadow behind his genius has been the ruthless accounting of Chairwoman Nanaea Sparrowsun. Rarely seen in public, her invisible hand balances the scales of everything it touches in the favor of the Vesperius brands. By her measure are deals inked, purchases made, and product sold.Her detractors claim that she has ended more potential fortunes with a quiver of inked words than all the swords in Thanalan, but such claims are quickly silenced by the legions whose ventures persist only because of timely investments by the Vesperius' coffers. What can be certain is that she is the final arbiter: nothing passes the Lord Vesperius' desk that did not first come under her watchful gaze.

Telzzel Copihwesfv

Department of Enforcement

Telzzel Copiwesfv is a ghost, or perhaps a revenant. The Viera came into the fore from the shadow of Lord Vesperius, and rarely has he tarried long from that dutiful post.Ostensibly, he is the Lord’s bodyguard, but in many cases he is also the hand by which Lord Vesperius moves pieces across the complex political board of Ul’dah. He is, in effect, synonymous with the Lord Vesperius’ will - or perhaps he is simply and factually the Lord’s actual shadow.He is ever as dear to the smallfolk and the poor as his Lord, with rumour milling about beasts felled with gleaming arrows of moonlight by an archer clad in the Vesperius’ signature white. If those who carve a hard life in the Thanalan desert have more to say, it is known only that the viera is beloved.

The esteemed and brilliant Scarlet Fisher first entered the orbit of the Lord Vesperius when she approached him for donations for a brume-facing clinic in Ishgard. His patronage allowed the clinic to flourish until the Alchemist's Guild ignited a war on Scarlet by destroying her credentials and slandering her name.With investigating and challenging these allegations, the Vesperius family drew open war from a slighted Alchemist's Guild. What began as skirmishes between their forces escalated after her clinic was set ablaze, with a lighter bearing the Alchemist's Guild seal found in the ruins.In the wake of the disastrous fire, Lord Vesperius brought Scarlet into his employ to head Desert Flower Remedies on his behalf, desiring to keep their dream of affordable medicine for the poor alive.
